I was reflecting on my "conversation" with that youngster several days ago and what I had said about prayer. How ineffectual prayer can stem from feelings of obligation or duty. But they can come from other places as well ... such as peer pressure or pride. These are not very "solid" reasons to pray. Those prayers don't really come from our hearts. I believe the Father really loves our prayers when they come from a position of weakness or humility ... or need rather than want. I believe He especially responds to brokenness ... or true fear. I think the Father made us to be vulnerable ... and dependent on HIM. If we can shed the other stuff maybe we can mount upon wings ... like eagles. I think Heaven is right beside us now ... just waiting for us to shed our earthly garments and clothe ourselves in the Righteousness Jesus died to give us as His free gift. A gift like no other.
